  • Informative and well-researched, if dry

The dry-academic end of the spectrum when it comes to history podcasts. Reminds me of giving seminars as practice when a grad-student (except that mine were pretty terrible! These guys seem to be a lot less nervous with fewer vocal tics!). Kind of the opposite form to the slightly-jokey likes of Ridiculous History, and not as 'polished' as your BBC/Melyvn Bragg efforts. But interesting topics, intelligiblly presented.

  • C’mon interviewer in 120! Listen to your expert!

The interviewer continued to refer to the dehumanizing “slaves” over and over again while the interviewee scholar consistently (with one exception) says “enslaved persons”. The interviewer just doesn’t get it and keeps it up without apology. Weird. Otherwise a great episode and podcast.
