Five AI Podcast Summarizers: Tried & Tested

AI podcast summarizers are fast becoming every podcaster's best friend. They sift through the hours of audio content, extracting the key points and transforming them into digestible snippets. However, choosing the right time-saving tool can be overwhelming, given the sheer volume of options available.

That's why we teamed up with Eric Montgomery, the host of Clipped (a podcast about podcasting), and tested out five podcast summary generators.

For some context, we used a 22-minute episode that explores three podcast launch strategies and each tool we tested offers a free trial or free version, which means you can give them a whirl, too.

Here are the five AI-generated podcast summaries for you to compare!

Podsqueeze offers three pricing plans, including a free option suitable for podcasters just starting out. It includes 50 minutes of podcast time per month and one file upload.

Once you upload your audio file or copy-paste your RSS feed link, Podsqueeze magically generates a range of content, including a full transcript, timestamps, and keywords. There is no specific 'summary' option, but the podcast show notes option is comparable in this case.

Podsqueeze's summary is very descriptive, which is great, but it could be more engaging. We'd inject some personality.

Hey, potty people! It's Eric here, and in this episode of Clipped, we dive deep into the world of podcast launches. I shared insights on three different launch styles to help you kick off your podcasting journey with a bang, no matter where you're at or what your goals are.

Planned Launch

Pros: Immediate listener engagement, potential boost in podcast rankings, satisfies binge listeners, establishes credibility.
Cons: Increased initial workload, resource-intensive, risk of wasted content, pressure to maintain momentum.

Single Episode Launch

Pros: Focus on creating one killer episode, immediate feedback, less pressure, easier marketing.
Cons: Risk of losing momentum, algorithmic disadvantages, reduced SEO opportunities.

Spontaneous Launch

Pros: Overcomes procrastination, authenticity and excitement, learning by doing, adaptable content, immediate gratification.
Cons: Lack of preparation, challenges in building an audience, inconsistent branding, sustainability issues.

I also touched on the importance of having a plan, even if you're going for a more spontaneous approach. Remember, it's not just about how you start but also about building momentum and improving as you go.

There's not much we'd change here! They transcribed 'poddy' to 'potty' but given that 'poddy' isn't a commonly used term, we're letting that slide.

Podium offers a free trial with three hours of audio. Features include show notes, chapter titles and summaries, episode title suggestions, keywords, and lots more. It doesn't have a dedicated summary feature, so we used PodiumGPT to generate an episode summary.
