The Three Percent Podcast is a weekly(ish) conversation about new books, the publishing scene, international literature in translation, and many other random rants and raves. Chad W. Post of Open Letter Books and Tom Roberge of New Directions and Albertine Bookstore keep things irreverent, informed, and funny in a podcast that'll keep you up to date on the international literary and publishing wor... more

I love the way that Chad and Tom do not hold back when they talk about book industry news. They both offer industry knowledge as a publisher and a bookseller but their cynicism is the reason to subscribe to this podcast.
This is the only podcast that satisfies both my interest in literature in translation and trashy gossip about literary figures. Cool music too.
I like that this podcast comes at the publishing from a different angle but the hosts have this habit of declaring that any given book is "just bad" and then move along in the discussion without explaining why they have that opinion. To me this comes across as arrogant. It's like they're saying their opinion is the ONLY opinion and obviously it's the correct opinion so no need to give an explanation. I'm like, check your ego guys.
I love this podcast. Everything from insider baseball to actual baseball. And some publishing too.
Wide-ranging and passionate - especially about literature in translation (hence the name three percent, the average percentage of books in translation published annualy in English. Intelligent, informed comment and an essential insight into the atlas of world literatures
