It was the first time he saw one of his co-hosts Rick Knoop drive a IMSA Camel GTU racing Mazda RX7 at the 1979 Sprite Grand Prix at Sears Point. Since that day in 1979, he was fortunate to be able to witness Rick Knoop drive the Jim Busby Racing BFGoodrich Porsche 962 at the original Laguna Seca as it existed in 1985. Rick Knoop went on to have victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978 and in 1984. Ever since 2014 when Trent started his website called The Racing Ear he has gone to historic racing events in Northern California to record amazing racing cars as they were in their day for all to visibly and audibly enjoy.
