Hamlet by William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)

LibriVox

Hamlet is commonly regarded as one of the greatest plays ever written. • Pretty Darn Good

I am using this recording instead of reading for class while I follow along. The audio is a bit fuzzy at times, but it is really helping to to comprehend what is happening while I follow along. It follows the text almost perfectly so it's done very well!

  • Generally good.

It is a very helpful podcast for those reading Hamlet on their own. Most characters are done well. It lost a star purely because the voice of Hamlet was unbearingly frustrating. He did not know how to read Shakespeare, nor did he understand Hamlets character. These combined with his American accent made listening frustrating. The voice of Horatio was far better suited, he knew how to read!

  • A good aide for learning the play

This recording is a good resource for learning the play. The recording is clearly a set of cut and pastes which makes it choppy. This is distracting at times. The main characters read well and theatrically. It was very useful in familiarizing myself with the play.

  • Pretty good.

The cast is all fantastic except Hamlet; he reads far, far, far too slowly.
