I haven’t enjoyed this podcast as much with the new host. I find her too casual and chatty and sometimes a bit rude in her attempts at humour. It’s a short podcast and each guest is only on once a week, so I hope the host can stick to the topic and let the guest speak. I listen to this podcast for politics - leave the baking chat and ‘jokes’ for a different podcast.
For a quick 15min update on what’s coming up for the day it’s fine. If you want to hear non-partisan opinions, stick to Mondays (Van Dusen) or Thursdays (Ivison). If you’re looking for left-wing partisans, then Tue, Wed, and Fri are right up your alley. Legere (Wed) will give you your weekly fill of left-leaning, right wing bashing.
I’ve been a regular listener for several years now and always looked forward to the daily overview of Canadian politics. Unfortunately, for the past few months, I’ve found myself turning the podcast off after only a couple minutes or just ignoring it completely. Sutcliffe is a good host, and usually lets the guests do most of the talking. This is sometimes a problem, though. In particular with his regular guest Dan Leger. Althia Raj keeps her left bias mostly in check and Susan Delacourt is great, but Leger shows open disdain for conservative politicians, especially the premieres of Alberta and Saskatchewan [just check his Twitter posts.] This is supposed to be a political primer for the day, but Leger turns it into an editorial.
Don’t need him when Althia Raj is talking! Wow, she can go on and on!
